Now that we’ve squared away your motivations, it’s time to ‘look within’ and work out what makes you special.
If Astrology is something anyone can do – if you can pick up an ephemeris and chart the constellations what makes you different from someone else? That’s what we’re going to explore in this section of the course. Knowing who you are, and what makes you unique, is critical for giving you the confidence to face the world, and be able to tell others why they would choose YOU over another astrologer.
Going back to my question about ‘what makes you special?’ The thing is that you are already special, and there’s nothing you need to help you stand out. Your unique approach, your style, and your way of interacting with the world are what’s going to attract people to you. This style is shaped by who you’ve met and admired, your background and experiences, the unique perspectives or discoveries about astrology, and your personal beliefs. These things are inherently a part of who you are
Knowing you have unique qualities is the first step. Then you need to be able to call them out and describe them to someone else.
Now is the time to hold them up and let them shine.
Why do we need to do this? In part, it’s to tease out some self-realization, but the other business-related reason is that when it comes to what you sell, you are the product you are selling as much as the astrology knowledge you impart to others.
To start teasing out your unique qualities, I want you to consider a few questions. It may be worth jotting down a few notes in your journal.
Who else does this well?
As someone with an interest in astrology, there will be other astrologers with whom you resonate. You will recognise them as the people who you feel do this well and whose sites or columns you visit often. As you think about these people who are special to you, let’s ask ourselves these questions (journal at will).
Duration: 30 minutes
Spend some time considering and journalling your thoughts on the questions above. If you think of additional questions that you want to answer, jot those down as well. Consider this a free-form creative exercise. At its heart, we want to capture two things: 1) the essence of what makes you YOU, and 2) what makes what you do unique.
